Shiloh was an hour away from being euthanized at a crowded shelter until Sedona Shepherd stepped up to save him. Shiloh arrived at the shelter emaciated and with matted fur. He was not eating at the shelter and wasting away. The shelter veterinarian performed a full blood test showing that Shiloh had anemia, and his red and white blood cell counts were all at dangerous levels. There was a strong concern that he may have cancer. The shelter was not equipped to provide long-term care; we were his only option.
Working with a long-term supporter of Sedona Shepherd, we quickly brought him into a foster home. Shiloh has been slowly regaining his strength, and more importantly, he has begun eating. However, he is a picky eater who only wants to eat human food. X-rays proved to be non-conclusive in determining why he is anemic. An ultrasound and additional blood testing ruled out cancer. Since being in our care for a week he has gained 5 pounds but is still only 29 pounds. Shiloh is recovering in a foster home, who will mostly likely adopt Shiloh once he is medically cleard.
